Bozeman Youth Initiative is premiering the ski movie PURE and holding a clothing drive for the warming shelter and other local organizations on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the MSU Strand Union Building Ballroom. The doors open at 7:00 and the show starts at 8:00. Tickets prices will be $7.00 students/$10.00 adults at the door and will also be available for pre-sale at Cactus Records.
The movie PURE is produced by Austrian freeskier and filmmaker Sandra Lahnsteiner with Shades of Winter, and co-production by Red Bull Media House. The movie stars high-performing female athletes from all over the world who travel together to Japan, Switzerland, the USA, Canada, and Italy.
The Bozeman Youth Initiative members are hosting this ski movie, as well as promoting a winter clothing drive and raffle. Each article of winter clothing donated will be worth one free raffle ticket, otherwise raffle tickets can be purchased 5/$3.00 or an arms length/$20.00. Students came up with the idea to host this ski movie and the clothing drive. This gave everyone involved a chance to learn about budgeting, marketing, and contacting companies for sponsorship. The BYI students want to extend an invitation for this event to community members of all ages. A larger demographic of support for Bozeman Youth Initiative will help them with future community events.
The Bozeman Youth Initiative meets once weekly to plan events throughout the year which include dances, concerts, DJ Battles, service projects, art shows and more. The group encourages youth to learn new things, develop leadership skills, and take on responsibilities. The events planned by the group are created and implemented completely by the youth.
