The Bozeman Youth Initiative (BYI) is accepting applications for new youth board members, ages 16-20.
BYI is a non-profit organization whose mission is to connect the youth of Bozeman to their community. We provide opportunities through mentoring youth-driven, adult-supported programs that help youth work towards their vision of community and reach their full potential.
We work with individual youth, school clubs, and community organizations to support projects in which young people take the lead in project direction and decision-making and also have opportunities for skill-building, leadership training, and community service.
As part of the Turner Foundation’s Youth Community Development Initiative, BYI has mentored youth projects including a teen center, a youth-staffed radio interview show, summer art walk exhibits for young artists, DJ Battle competitions, and BOB the mobile greenhouse bus.
This opportunity not only gives you a chance to be a full voting member of the BYI board and help decide our programming, it gives you hands-on experience coordinating volunteers and events, representing the organization to the community, and project management.
Plus, when it comes time to fill out those job and college apps, instead of just saying you volunteered for a non-profit, you can say you helped run one.
If you’re interested in learning more about this unique opportunity to be part of a youth organization that youth actually organize, contact Executive Director Greg Owens at (406) 580-3659 or e-mail email@example.com.
